Seamless QA Integration for A $44B FinTech Merger at a Global Financial Information & Analytics Provider

Our Clients

Engagement Overview

Our client is a leading global provider of financial information and analytics, serving institutions that depend on real-time, high-integrity data to make market-moving decisions. After a $44 billion merger with IHS Markit, the combined organization needed to integrate and stabilize more than 300 applications and digital platforms without compromising performance or reliability.

TechBlocks, a long-term QA and engineering partner since 2016, was brought in to redesign how quality worked at scale. We unified tools and processes, embedded AI-driven automation, and stood up a structured, scalable QA model that supported faster releases, higher platform stability, and greater confidence for users in global financial markets.

Key Challenges

The merger multiplied the complexity of the client’s technology estate. Legacy QA processes could not keep pace with the volume and criticality of changes across 300+ platforms

Fragmented workflows, manual approvals, and limited automation slowed delivery and made it harder to guarantee the level of quality and performance demanded by financial customers.

Integrating QA across 300+ Platforms

Following the merger, the client needed to integrate quality practices across more than 300 applications and digital platforms. Each had its own release rhythms, configurations, and dependencies. Existing QA processes were not designed for this scale and struggled to provide consistent coverage or risk visibility across the portfolio.

QA Processes Not Built for Scale

Legacy QA approaches relied heavily on manual testing and ad hoc test case design. As the workload grew, these methods led to inconsistencies in quality, missed edge cases, and longer regression cycles. Feature releases were delayed because the QA function could not keep up with the pace of development.

Fragmented Workflows & Approval Bottlenecks

Workflows across QA, development, and business stakeholders were fragmented. Approvals for new features and fixes moved slowly through informal channels, creating bottlenecks and confusion. Lack of structured processes limited transparency, slowed collaboration, and directly impacted time-to-market.

High Performance & Reliability Expectations

As a provider of financial information and analytics, the client had to deliver real-time dashboards and analytics experiences with high performance and stability. Any degradation in dashboard load times, data responsiveness, or platform availability could erode user trust and impact how customers operated in the market.

Approach & Solutions

1. QA Model Transformation & Framework Integration

We started by standardizing how quality was defined and executed across the integrated platform landscape.

  • Integrated TechBlocks’ AI-driven QEBlocks Assessment Framework with the client’s existing KAFE framework to create a unified QA foundation.
  • Used the combined frameworks to guide test strategy, coverage, and prioritization across more than 300 applications and platforms.
  • Enabled rapid test case generation and automated regression testing, reducing reliance on manual test design and execution.
  • Standardized defect categorization and reporting to improve traceability and accelerate bug resolution.

2. Scalable Test Execution & Performance Engineering

We then focused on the execution layer to ensure functional and performance quality kept pace with the integrated platform footprint.

  • Deployed a specialized QA team of 36 professionals dedicated to the client’s portfolio.
  • Leveraged Selenium for functional testing to validate critical user journeys and workflows across key applications.
  • Used Apache JMeter for performance testing to measure and improve dashboard responsiveness and system behavior under load.
  • Implemented continuous system monitoring to detect quality and performance issues early in the lifecycle.

3. Agile QA Delivery & Approval Workflows

We reshaped QA workflows to align closely with development cycles and introduce predictable, transparent approvals.

  • Embedded Agile practices through Scrum-based sprints that synchronized QA activities with development teams.
  • Structured QA participation in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives to improve collaboration and feedback loops.
  • Introduced a structured QA workflow with a 5-day approval cycle for new features, reducing delays and clarifying expectations.
  • Shortened feature update cycle time by combining automation, consistent processes, and clearer decision-making paths.

4. Capability Building & Long-Term Sustainability

To make the transformation sustainable, we invested in the client’s internal capabilities and provided flexible support for adjacent analytics work.

  • Trained client in-house teams on advanced QA methodologies, automation best practices, and the integrated QEBlocks–KAFE framework.
  • Enabled teams to use Tableau-based validation to cross-check data integrity and analytics behavior in dashboards.
  • Offered flexible resource allocation so the QA team could support BI analytics tasks when needed, without sacrificing core QA responsibilities.
  • Provided long-term QA support to maintain platform reliability, scalability, and readiness for future demands as the merged organization continued to evolve.
