What Is Distributed Order Management? 

Distributed Order Management is the distribution of the management of customer orders and their associated routing over a variety of fulfillment sources, such as warehouse(s), store(s), supplier(s), and third-party providers. The ultimate goal of distributed order management is to fulfill customer orders as quickly as possible based on the availability of inventory at whichever source is closest to the customer, while also keeping inventory costs and order delivery timelines (time taken to deliver the order to the customer) under control, and while providing the customer with one cohesive (uniform) experience.
